Thomson Reuters Foundation, in partnership with UBS Optimus Foundation, aims to raise awareness across three key regions (Southeast Asia, South Asia, and East Africa) of the negative impact of inappropriate institutional care for children. This programme will stimulate public debate, increase the level of understanding of the negative impacts of "voluntourism" and child protection in care systems and contribute to policy change.
The news media in Southeast Europe is increasingly required to report on complex economic, financial and political issues. Lacking the appropriate experience journalists are under-prepared to provide the public with an adequate coverage of economic and political transitional process. In 2007, Robert Bosch Stiftung and Thomson Reuters Foundation initiated the programme “Economic and Political Reporting from Southeast Europe” for journalists from the Balkans.
Independent media plays a key role in reporting conflict and security, and identifying threats before they emerge. This programme stimulates collaboration between journalists and researchers and assists them to uncover major security challenges.
Set-up by the Foundation in 2015 in the run-up to national elections, Myanmar Now is an award-winning independent online news service offering accurate and non-partisan news for free syndication in both Burmese and English. With emphasis ranging from humanitarian and ethnic issues, to domestic political reform and environmental challenges, Myanmar Now is also providing professional training and mentoring resources for reporters as the country opens up to the global community.Find out more
